OGR 13/12/2011Hi Amrit,Okay - I think you need to work more closely with the Freud essay - I know you find this difficult, but getting more out of those ideas are going to help you conceptually. Tracey Ashmore has contacted me and suggested she is not seeing you as regularly as she thinks she needs to in order to help you improve. Please can you make sure that you're accessing all the support available to you! And remember, you've got an appointment to see Denise Ensoll at 1.30 on Wednesday. It's really important you attend. Are you still working with Gaby? Like I said, you need to be really honest now about seeking out the support that you need when it comes to academic writing, research and take-up of ideas. As always, you've got some nice thumbnails: I like number 13, because of its de Chirico-style perspective: you should check out this link and pay particular attention to the artist's use of colour:http://www.abcgallery.com/C/chirico/chirico.htmlNumber 4 - with its use of the mirror should be developed further too. I can't quite see what is happening in that reflection, but the idea of an unreliable mirror (i.e. showing something else) has potential. In regard to your written assignment, see my previous comments about the Freud essay - before you go any further, you need to be sure you understand his ideas and are familiar with his discussion. Your essay will need to contain a clear definition of 'the uncanny' etc. before you get on with talking about 'Silent Hill' specifically - so you need this knowledge Amrit if you're going to discuss this effectively.
